I froze. There came an unexpected cloud<\/span>
\n<\/span>As dark as dying which I didn’t know<\/span>
\n<\/span>Could overarch the archipelago <\/span> \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>
\n<\/span>Of faith; I thought the only hues allowed<\/span>
\n<\/span>To cover skies were brilliant blues. A shroud <\/span>
\n<\/span>Enwrapped the sun, the stars, the ebb and flow<\/span>
\n<\/span>Of moon-tides, and the winds which used to blow<\/span>
\n<\/span>As free as seagulls, unconfined and proud.<\/span><\/p>\n

O Lord, how cold it is tonight, how black <\/span>
\n<\/span>The heavens, and the waves have disappeared;<\/span>
\n<\/span>When winter silences the surf, it seems<\/span>
\n<\/span>As if the sea were ice. I fear I lack<\/span>
\n<\/span>The faith that Abraham and Isaac shared<\/span>
