Psalm 21:<\/p>\n

Author:
\n<\/span><\/em>King David–the second king of Israel and father of the Davidic royal and messianic dynasty. David composed over seventy of the 150 psalms of Sefer Tehillim.<\/span><\/p>\n

When and Why:
\n<\/span><\/em>David wrote this psalm during wartime and he read it when his armies went out to battle.<\/span><\/p>\n

Genre:\u00a0
\n<\/span><\/em>Psalm of Royalty-This psalm describes how God reigns supreme. It focuses on the human king of Israel, or upon God as King of Israel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chapter Summary:\u00a0
\n<\/span><\/em>King David composed this psalm for the Jewish people to recite after every victorious battle. It is an expression of thanksgiving to God for all the ways that He has favored him personally and all of Israel as a whole.\u00a0
\n<\/span>This psalm consists of fourteen verses, subdivided into three parts.
\n<\/span>Verse 1 serves as a heading.
\n<\/span>In verses 2-7, King David describes the joy of the king who is blessed by God.\u00a0
\n<\/span>In verses 8-13, he blesses the king and prays that he will be victorious over his enemies.
\n<\/span>In verse 14, the people ask to see God\u2019s strength and proceed to praise him for his power\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Shimush Tehillim-When to Say:
\n<\/span><\/em>When facing an important authority or rabbi–Verse 3 states: \u201cHis heart\u2019s desire You have given him, and the utterance of his lips You have not withheld.\u201d
\n<\/span>For a storm at Sea-Verse 5 proclaims: \u201cLife he asked of You, You gave it to him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
