  1. Be a mentsch.<\/em> A person\u2019s entry to the House of God, which is symbolic of nearness to God, and is the level of expectations from other people, doesn\u2019t deal at all with the relationship between people and God, but rather the relationship between people and one another. This is something that prophecy has stressed time and again – the primacy of ethics over the cult (see e.g. Isaiah 1). Here the psalm gives it a new, and very clear formulation.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Wholeheartedly<\/em>. Goodness is measured also in thoughts and feelings, and not just in deeds. \u201cIn his heart acknowledges the truth\u201d – not just out loud. \u201cFor whom a contemptible man is abhorrent\u201d – he abhors evil, in his thoughts and overall outlook.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. And along those same lines\u2026<\/em> Psalm 24 <\/span><\/a>deals with the same theme. Worth looking at now, and comparing and contrasting.
