  1. It sounds better in ancient Hebrew<\/em>. This psalm uses Hebrew words that are characteristic of a very old stratum of Hebrew: <\/span>yidrechun, yehareisun, bemo, panemo<\/span><\/em>…<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n
  2. \u201cTake to the hills like a bird!\u201d<\/em> That\u2019s what people say to the psalmist. And they send him, to take cover in the mountains. But the psalmist doesn\u2019t budge, he criticizes those who doubt his protection. He takes refuge in the LORD. There is no doubt for him (verse 1).<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Love and hate<\/em>. Divine justice and reward and punishment for the righteous and the wicked are not a matter of formal legal proceedings. Note the intensity of emotions. In verses 5-7 – who loves whom, and what? And who hates whom?<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. It\u2019s rainin\u2019 coals<\/em> (verse 6). This is the punishment of the wicked. If we are to interpret this verse based on the parallelism, then the Hebrew word pachim<\/span><\/i>, should be <\/span>pechamim<\/span><\/i> (see Robert Alter on this page). If this reminds you of Sodom and Gomorrah (559 chapters ago – Gen 19) – it\u2019s not a coincidence…<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":53645,"id":53645,"title":"general-qs-points to
