I must have been asleep, O Lord, at least<\/span>
\n<\/span>A thousand years, I must have been asleep<\/span>
\n<\/span>When You revealed the field where outcasts reap<\/span>
\n<\/span>Rich grain You planted for their Sabbath feast.<\/span><\/p>\n

I must have been asleep when You released<\/span>
\n<\/span>All lepers from disease and those who weep<\/span>
\n<\/span>Were freed from nightmares which they used to keep<\/span>
\n<\/span>Beneath their pillows of a creeping beast.<\/span><\/p>\n

I surely must have been asleep, for how<\/span>
\n<\/span>Can I explain the fact, my King, that though<\/span>
\n<\/span>You set up signposts to Your throne \u2014 the throne<\/span><\/p>\n

I should have sought \u2014 I never came.\u00a0 But now<\/span>
\n<\/span>I am awake, thank God, and seek to know<\/span>
