Psalm 8:<\/p>\n

Author:
\n<\/span><\/em>King David–the second king of Israel and father of the Davidic royal and messianic dynasty. David composed over seventy of the 150 psalms of Sefer Tehillim.<\/span><\/p>\n

Genre:<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/em>Psalm of Praise–This is a psalm of celebration, often the result of a victory. It declares God\u2019s goodness and urges all of creation to worship.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chapter Summary:<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/em>The Singer boasts of the Almighty’s supervision over His creatures and acclaims the excellence of the man who lives in accordance with his Maker\u2019s will. He acknowledges: \u201cHow mighty is Your Name over all the earth.\u201d
\n<\/span>The psalm consists of ten verses, subdivided into four sections.<\/span>
\n<\/span>Verse 1 serves as a heading.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In verses 2 & 3, King David proudly proclaims that God\u2019s greatness is manifest everywhere, and that the wicked are destined for destruction.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In verses 4 & 5, he tells of man\u2019s insignificance in relation to the heavens and all the stars.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In verses 6-9, he speaks of man\u2019s greatness and dominion over the world and all living things.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In verse 10, he concludes in the same way he begins, with words of praise to God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shimush Tehillim–When to say this psalm:<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/em>To find favor amongst others–Verse 6 refers to man\u2019s greatness being only slightly less than that of the angels, crowned with honor and glory.<\/span>
\n<\/span>For a crying child –Verse 3 refers to the mouth of a nursing child, bringing him strength.<\/span><\/p>\n
