Psalm 7:<\/p>\n

Author:<\/span><\/em>
\n<\/span>King David–the second king of Israel and father of the Davidic royal and messianic dynasty. David composed over seventy of the 150 psalms of Sefer Tehillim.<\/span><\/p>\n

When and Why:<\/span><\/em>
\n<\/span>David sings to God concerning Cush, a Benjaminite. Cush was likely another partisan of Saul against David. David wrote this psalm to thank God for saving him from Saul.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Genre: <\/span>
\n<\/span><\/em>Psalm of Individual Lament–This psalm was written from the perspective of the individual worshiper, who cries out to God in his time of need. It is characterized as an address to God involving a complaint, followed by a request and ending with an expression of trust.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chapter Summary:<\/span><\/em>
\n<\/span>King David gives thanks for having been saved from his enemies who lurk to destroy him. It may seem that this righteous man is helpless against those who rise up against him, but he dare not despair. With God\u2019s mercy, the wicked will ultimately fall victim to their own schemes.<\/span><\/p>\n

This psalm consists of eighteen verses, subdivided into seven parts.\u00a0
\n<\/span>Verse 1 serves as a heading.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In verses 2 & 3, King David turns to God and pleads for deliverance. <\/span>
\n<\/span>In verses 4-6, he takes an oath condemning himself if he has indeed done wrong.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In verses 7 & 8, he calls out to God to rise up against his enemies.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In verse 9 & 10, the Psalmist publicly calls on God to reveal His righteousness. <\/span>
\n<\/span>In verses 11-14, he expresses his confidence in God\u2019s justice.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In verses 15-17, he expresses his faith that the wicked will be destroyed by their own mischief.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In verse 19, he concludes by taking upon himself to thank God for his deliverance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Shimush Tehillim-When to Say This Psalm<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/em>For protection against enemies–Verse 1 refers to the lament David expressed after Saul\u2019s death.<\/span>
\n<\/span>For a successful judgement–Verse 2 states: \u201cdeliver me from all my pursuers and rescue me.\u201d Further, in verse 18, David thanks God for a good outcome.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
