{"id":79692,"date":"2020-09-07T18:54:14","date_gmt":"2020-09-07T15:54:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/?p=79692"},"modified":"2020-09-07T18:54:14","modified_gmt":"2020-09-07T15:54:14","slug":"in-that-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/en\/in-that-day\/","title":{"rendered":"In That Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[281],"tags":[],"acf":{"old_id":"79692","type":"no","iframe":"","writer":34243,"related_cahpter":"564","type_929":"2","show_author_image":false,"old_create_date":"","old_url":"","post_main_content":{"description":"Life-giving waters East and West from (previously water-stressed) Jerusalem\r\n\r\n","content":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his final, apocalyptic, vision, Zechariah described how the Mount of Olives would split open to form a valley (4), due to an earthquake (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ra`ash<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 5), revealing new sources of water: \u201cIn that day, fresh water shall flow from Jerusalem, part of it to the Eastern Sea and part to the Western Sea, throughout the summer and winter\u201d (verse 8).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A very similar picture was drawn by the Prophet Ezekiel (\u201cI found that water was issuing from below the platform of the Temple\u201d 47:1 ff.), on which Abrabanel commented:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From time immemorial, there was a shortage of water in Jerusalem\u2026 Therefore, at the time of salvation, in order to transform Jerusalem into a source of universal blessing, God made it omni-sufficient, with no scarcity, by creating a spring of living water whose source was beneath the Temple. The purpose was that all the world\u2019s inhabitants should recognize that nature had changed for the better; that a dry as wood flinty rock had been transformed by God into a wellspring, and that the miracle would occur in merit of His Temple. This would be a sign and omen that \u201cTorah shall go forth from Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem,\u201d and to indicate, thereby, that God had created something new upon the earth so that in Jerusalem, that had never had spring water, a wellspring would emerge at the time of salvation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, Zechariah, whose career overlapped with Ezekiel, incorporated the same symbolism of \u201cliving water\u201d (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mayim chayim<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) into his prophecy, even to the distribution of the water into the \u201cEastern\u201d (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ha-yam ha-kadmoni<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and \u201cWestern\u201d (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ha-yam ha-acharon<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) seas. The latter designates the Mediterranean Sea and is already attested to in the Torah (Deut. 11:34). The former, then, would designate the Dead Sea, which, according to this prophecy, will experience a return to life.
