  1. He will be the opposite.<\/em> Why will the future king be \u201chumble [poor], riding on an ass\u201d? Because he will be the opposite of a king who keeps many horses, and amasses gold and silver, such that he acts \u201chaughtily toward his fellows\u201d (the Law of the King, Deut. 17:20). And if one who accumulates wealth and property like that reminds you of some specific great king, it might not be a coincidence.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Who\u2019s king here<\/em>? A flesh and blood king, or the King of the World? The two voices in this chapter are thought provoking about this relationship.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. War and peace<\/em>. God fights the enemies in verses 1-8, and is revealed in the world as a valiant warrior, whose weapons are \u201cJudah\u2026 and Efraim,\u201d who do battle in their wars of conquest (verses 13-15). But at the heart of the chapter is a prophecy of peace, and the demilitarization of the area of all weapons: \u201cHe shall banish chariots from Ephraim And horses from Jerusalem; The warrior\u2019s bow shall be banished. He shall call on the nations to surrender\u201d (verse 10).<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. The royal sheep<\/em>. Verse 16 describes the salvation with an artfully combined mixed metaphor: \u201cThe LORD their God shall prosper them On that day; [He shall pasture] His people like sheep. [They shall be] like crown jewels glittering on His soil.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":53645,"id":53645,"title":"general-qs-points to
