  1. Formative memories.<\/em> What\u2019s in the national family photo album that Micah presents here? The exodus from Egypt, the leadership of Moses, Aaron and Miriam, the story of Balak and Balaam, and also God\u2019s divine grace in all the stations from \u201cShittim to Gigal\u201d (verses 4-5).<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. From people – to person<\/em>. Verses 1-5 begin as a national story, \u201cthe LORD has a case against His people\u201d (verse 2) and <\/span>\u2018ami<\/span><\/em>, \u201cMy people\u201d (in verses 3, 5) reminding of the shared national history. But starting in verse 6, and especially in verse 8, the emphasis is placed on the individual, on the individual\u2019s relationship with her or his God, and the incorrect, and the correct, ways to build that: \u201cGod has told you what is good\u2026\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Walk modestly<\/em>. What does \u201cto walk modestly with your God\u201d mean? Is it gratitude the source of good, humility, and self-abnegation in its face? Or does the verse imply minimizing the sacrificial cult, in contrast to the abundant sacrifices proposed in the previous verse? \u201cSimple\u201d things such as \u201cto do justice And to love goodness\u201d? All answers are possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Beware the curse<\/em>. To the evil wealthy ones, Micah prophesies the curses from the Leviticus 26, and Deut. 28. The lesson is clear: the cheating and injustices that they are perpetrating are violations of the covenant with God.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. The influence of bad neighbors<\/em>. Where did Jerusalem learn to do evil? From the neighboring kingdom of Israel: \u201cYet you have kept the laws of Omri, And all the practices of the House of Ahab, And have followed what they devised\u201d (verse 16). Too bad – it will end badly.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":53645,"id":53645,"title":"general-qs-points to
