  1. Bethlehem is on the map<\/em>. There aren\u2019t a lot of details here about the future ruler, not his dynasty or family – just his tribe, and that he will hail from Bethlehem. No wonder the Christians love to cite these verses regarding their savior.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. One, seven or eight?<\/em> The first prophecy in the chapter speaks of one, unique savior. The second one mentions seven shepherds, and eight princes of men. Is this referring to the Judan military staff, to a regional coalition that will bring salvation, or a chosen list of worthy leaders from Jewish history? All this and more in the notes of the commentators.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Life and death.<\/em> What will the exiled Israelites be among the nations? It seems that the prophet gives us two contradictory metaphors. One is dew, a blessing for the world, and the other is a raging lion, who harms those around him. One can find a connection in that they both include a common theme of independence. The dew drops \u201cdo not look to any man Nor place their hope in mortals\u201d (verse 6). And the strength of the lion is in his superiority, whose \u201chand shall prevail over your foes,\u201d with no submission or dependence (verse 8).<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Sound familiar?<\/em> Verses 9-14 in the chapter which speak about idolatry are similar in message and also in style to Isaiah 2:6-8. Isaiah and Micah were active in the same period in Judah. What was the connection between them? What did they agree on? And what did they disagree on, and who was quoting whom in their prophecies? These questions from the previous chapter and more still occupy scholars and commentators. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":53645,"id":53645,"title":"general-qs-points to
