How uniquely human, distinctly unholy, abjectly quaint<\/span>
\n<\/span>for one to believe that he (is he me?) knows better<\/span>
\n<\/span>than the Holy One, blessed be the arrogance<\/span>
\n<\/span>that has been with us since our milkless teeth fell<\/span>
\n<\/span>into the bounty of Eden as if tempest-tossed from bark<\/span>
\n<\/span>we thought our own\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

each bite an instance of descent<\/span>
\n<\/span>for the sake of ascent, dissent<\/span>
\n<\/span>for the sake of assent; yes, it\u2019s distance<\/span>
\n<\/span>between the wave and the belly of the sea,<\/span>
\n<\/span>but we can\u2019t bend a knee without (business class)<\/span>
\n<\/span>room to disagree, can\u2019t lift a salty tongue or weary eye<\/span>
\n<\/span>in plea or prayer without the space to dance<\/span>
\n<\/span>around that which is desired of us\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

always. stiff-necked, fearful, short-sighted,<\/span>
\n<\/span>we take the long way to paradise and promises.<\/span>
\n<\/span>sometimes, sometimes prophecy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

but every ship bound for Tarshish<\/span>
\n<\/span>will deliver you to Nineveh, a dove clutching<\/span>
\n<\/span>an olive branch too heavy for your crippled heart,<\/span>
\n<\/span>tripping over a fate yet filled out<\/span><\/p>\n
