What will happen then, after those struggles lead to horrific catastrophes?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gallons of divine spirit will be poured onto the world, Joel tells us, and everyone \u2013 that is everyone who is part of the Israelite people \u2013 will prophesy, dream dreams and have visions. It&#8217;s not entirely clear what they will dream, or if this will help them at all, or help the world, or God, but it will happen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I&#8217;m trying to imagine them (or us) standing on the street, or sitting at home or at work, or on the train or in their car, and being awash in this spirit that descends unceasingly. And everyone is talking to themselves, and seeing things, and they&#8217;re not sure if they are crazy or not, and they&#8217;re not sure what is true and what is illusion, and the sun goes dark, and the moon becomes red, and there are feelings of dread and expectation in the air. Some will try to wake themselves by force from this dream, some will wait until it&#8217;s all over, and everything will be erased and it will be possible to start over. And no one is entirely sure what will happen next.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And all I can think is how bad it is for us, how hard and painful this world is. For so many years we have been waiting for the Day of the Lord, for that day when everything is transformed, when the light changes, and when what we thought was true, in the new light of reality will turn out to have been an illusion, and what seemed to us as crazy, will be seen to be right.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Waiting for the day when we can all escape to a different reality, somewhere on the mountain of the Lord, to that day that will never end, that will put an end to all our suffering, all the suffering of those days that will certainly
