  1. Symbol or reality?<\/em> Is the enemy the metaphor for the (real) locusts – or are the locusts the metaphor for the enemy? It seems that the locusts are the reality. But when the text mentions how God plans to respond, \u201cI will drive the northerner far from you, I will thrust it into a parched and desolate land\u201d (verse 20), it raises the suspicion, that it is actually referring to the (human) enemy from the north, because locusts generally come from the south. Commentators have various opinions.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The day of the LORD<\/em>. What is the day of the LORD? Is it one special day, somewhere towards \u201cthe end\u201d? Or any cataclysmic historical event? What, in your opinion, is the answer that these first two chapters of Joel give to these questions? In the next two chapters – it will be a different answer. Stay with us.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Regards from the 13 attributes<\/em>. 432 chapters ago (Exodus 34), the revelation to Moses contained the characteristics of God known as the 13 attributes. You will find almost all of them in verse 13. What\u2019s missing? The ones that aren\u2019t all about mercy…<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. A winning argument<\/em>. \u201cWhat will they say,\u201d and especially the other nations, is seen once again to be a convincing claim. It proved itself in the prayers of Moses, both after the golden calf, and after the incident of the spies. Likewise, with Joshua it also worked. And here, with Joel, the prayer of the priests:\u00a0 \u201c…Let not the peoples say, \u2018Where is their God?\u2019\u201d – it too works. \u201cThen the LORD was roused On behalf of His land And had
