For they have forsaken the LORD.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second verb is the same verb that is used in verse 2. In the understanding behind this translation, the meaning would be: they were promiscuous without ever attaining the immoral freedom of total libertinage, just as they ate (perhaps even stuffed themselves) without being sated.
