The literal sense of the last two words is \u201craisin cakes\u201d (though others think that the meaning is \u201cgrape cups\u201d). The Revised English Bible tries to rescue some sense from this by translating \u201cthe cakes of the raisin offered to idols.\u201d The present translation adopts [and adds] the emendation proposed by Tur-Sinai: instead of the Masoretic <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ohavey \u2018ashishey \u2018anavim<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, he reads <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wa\u2019ohav \u2018eshet \u2018agavim<\/span><\/em><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From: Robert Alter, <em>The Hebrew Bible<\/em>, vol. 2: Prophets, W.
