To us the land has been given as an inheritance.\u2019\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The designation \u201cnext of kin\u201d is adopted from Greenberg. The literal sense is \u201cyour redemption people,\u201d that is, the people who because of their kinship are legally obliged to redeem property that has been somehow alienated from a person. (Compare the \u201credeeming kin\u201d in the Book of Ruth). The mention in the next verse of God\u2019s having \u201ctaken them far away among the nations\u201d indicates that these are the exiles. The self-satisfied residents of Jerusalem want to dissociate themselves from their exiled brothers, claiming exclusive rights to the land: \u201cGo away from the land.
