  1. Holy fire<\/em>. The fire for burning down Jerusalem was taken by God\u2019s command from the holiest place in the Temple. Whoever has been with Ezekiel from the beginning of this journey, and saw what was going on in the Temple, understands the significance of this. The Temple can\u2019t protect Jerusalem. In fact – the opposite. There is degradation in the Temple itself, and so the catastrophe and the punishment will start from there.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Looks familiar<\/em>. Some of the visuals in the chapter are familiar from chapter 1: \u201cThey were the same creatures that I had seen below the God of Israel at the Chebar Canal…they were the very faces that I had seen by the Chebar Canal\u201d (20-22).<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. A picture is worth a thousand words<\/em>. The prophecy is in words of course, but it draws a picture. And the image of God leaving his home is the clearest wat to say: it\u2019s over. This is not the House where God wants to continue to reside. You\u2019ve crossed a boundary. And there is a boundary.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4.
