This is my last chapter and it is painful. It\u2019s hard to conclude with the destruction of Jerusalem, my beautiful city, a magical place that embraces light. I am afraid, terrified by the thoughts of destruction and fire, devastation and exile. It pains me to see the Temple destroyed, the people scattered, feeling the agony that consumes us. The Babylonians are attacking:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnd in the ninth year of his reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, King Nebuchadrezzar moved against Jerusalem with his whole army\u2026.By the ninth day of the fourth month, the famine had become acute in the city; there was no food left for the common people. Then [the wall of] the city was breached.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d (Jer.52:4-7)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a broken heart and a devastated soul, I reached out to God. I reminded My Creator of my first chapter. Remember? I did not choose this path, it was God that chose it for me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God then gave me a second chance, fast-forwarding a few eras, to look to the future and see, experience and explore the Jerusalem of Gold.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I sat at the magnificent terrace of the King David Hotel, intrigued by the many flags displayed at the lobby and the many signatures of dignitaries and celebrities inscribed on the tiles of the floor. I was mesmerized by hearing so many languages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I savored a cup of Wissotzky tea and enjoyed an Elite chocolate while waiting for my guests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I have only one question to ask each one of them, \u201cwhat does Jerusalem mean to you?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My guests joined and shared with me this magnificent view of the walls that hug the Old City.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Naomi Shemer answered: This is the city to which I come to sing when my soul needs comfort.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yehuda Amichai added: It\u2019s my city, my home, it is the tank of oxygen for the scuba diver, it will be impossible to breath without her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amos Oz replied: It\u2019s a city filled with stories of love and darkness that connect me with my past.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zelda looked at me and cried: it\u2019s complicated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dahlia Ravikovitch fell in love with the gestalt of the moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hayim Nachman Bialik said: In this place, I can experience the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shechina<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> protecting me under her wings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I thanked God for this intimate gathering with great poets of the twentieth century and enveloped in awe, I traveled back to my own time. Although the Babylonians were destroying my city, my home, I knew this time that one day my words will be heard around a table, on the terrace of the King David Hotel, whispered in Hebrew because my
