  1. There is logic in history<\/em>. According to the people, the cult of the Queen of Heaven was popular in Judah. The book of Kings describes how this cult reached its peak during the days of Menashe, king of Judah. Among all the latter kings of Judah, Menashe\u2019s reign was the longest, and the best from an economic and a security perspective. When did the deterioration begin – at least from the security side? Not until the reign of Josiah, who made extensive religious reforms, and eradicated foreign cults from Judah.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The woman who offer incense<\/em>. It seems that the women had a special role in the cult. Perhaps because this was a cult that worshiped the Queen of Heaven, a female goddess. But the men were certainly part of it as well: \u201cAnd when we make offerings to the Queen of Heaven and pour libations to her, is it without our husbands\u2019 approval that we have made cakes in her likeness and poured libations to her?\u201d (verse 27).<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. The almond branch<\/em>. Do you remember the prophecy of the almond branch from chapter 1, with the message: \u201cWhat do you see, Jeremiah? I replied: I see a branch of an almond (shakked<\/em>) tree. The LORD said to me: You have seen right, For I am watchful (shokked<\/em>) to bring My word to pass.\u201d Here, in verse 27 the watchfulness regarding evil, is referring to punishing the Judans in Egypt.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. A few softer words<\/em>. In the midst of the prophecy of destruction to the Jews of Egypt, there are a few words of hope. See verses 14 and 28: there will be refugees.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. The death of Pharaoh Hophra – a sign<\/em>? What\u2019s the connection between the death of Hophra and the Jews of Egypt? The connection is not in the content of the message, but in the reception or rejection of Jeremiah. A concrete promise that becomes fulfilled is a good way to prove that its speaker is a true prophet. And by the way – the prophecy was realized. Hophra was killed in the year 568 BCE, by those who opposed him in Egypt.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":86314,"id":86314,"title":"Points to
