  1. Why in the Temple<\/em>? Jeremiah conducts his investigation into the loyalty of the Rechabites in the Temple. Perhaps because the Temple is a central place, where there are many \u201cpublic-opinion shapers\u201d (priests, ministers, prophets), and it\u2019s important they be present to hear the message. But also, the Temple itself is directly connected to the issue of loyalty to God\u2019s commandments, and their violation. And perhaps there are other reasons as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Loyalty and zealousness<\/em>. 116 chapters (2 Kings 10) and approximately 250 years ago, we met the paterfamilias, Yonadab son of Rechab, in his zealous loyalty for the word of God, when he joined forces with Jehu, to eradicate Baal worship in Israel.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Nazirites and nomads<\/em>. The family tradition of the Rechabites is to not drink wine, not build houses and not engage in agriculture. Might it be the case, that in addition to their loyalty, Jeremiah sees them as a model of a modest life, far from bourgeois decadence? Jeremiah himself doesn\u2019t say anything on this point.
