In chapter 7 we read the prophecy that Jeremiah was told to pronounce in the gate of the House of the Lord. It has in it the prophetic utterances at the beginning of this chapter, and more. It\u2019s worthwhile to read the two chapters side by side, and get the big picture of the message in the context of the people who are its target audience.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Aspects of Jeremiah\u2019s character<\/em>. The story allows us to meet Jeremiah the human being. He is not presented as a heroic figure, who is full of self-confidence, which is why God is by his side. He is not aggressive to his opponents, he apologizes and tries to soften things, while at the same time, and despite the fear he feels regarding his fate, he does not recant his
