To You nations shall come from the ends of the earth and say: \u2018Our fathers inherited utter delusions, things that are futile and worthless\u201d (Jeremiah 16:19). Israel said to the Holy One, blessed be He: \u2018When You performed miracles for us at the Crossing of the Red Sea, we said to You: \u201cThe Lord is my strength and song. He is become my deliverance. This is my God and I will enshrine Him, the God of my father, and I will exalt Him\u201d (Exodus 15:2). Did not Rahab, when she heard of the oncoming Israelites, cleave unto You, as it says: \u201cShe said to the men, \u2018I know that the Lord has given the country to you, because dread of you has fallen upon us, and all the inhabitants of the land are quaking before you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the waters of the Sea of Reeds for you when you left Egypt\u2019\u201d (Joshua 2:9-10). And when You performed miracles in the days of Solomon, as it says: \u201cThe foes of the Lord shall be shattered. He will thunder against them in the heavens. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. He will give power to His king, and triumph to His anointed one\u201d (I Samuel 2:10), even the Queen of Sheba praised You (see I Kings 10:1). For she says: \u201cPraised be the Lord your God, who delighted in you and set you on the throne of Israel\u201d (I Kings 10:9). When You took us out of Egypt and gave us the Torah, Jethro, the Midianite father-in-law of Moses, came and offered praise unto You (see Exodus 18:9-12). All of these illustrate the verse: \u201cTo You nations shall come from the ends of the earth and say: \u2018Our fathers inherited utter delusions, things that are futile and worthless\u2019\u201d (Jeremiah 16:19).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Midrash Leqah Tov to Exodus 15:11 adds that when, at the crossing of the Sea, Israel saw that the Egyptians had been destroyed, their rule had been abolished and all their gods eradicated, immediately the Israelites abandoned their Egyptian idolatry and exclaimed: \u201cWho is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in splendor, working wonders?!\u201d (Exodus 15:11). And even the Nations will in the future abandon their idol worship, as it says: \u201cTo You nations shall come from the ends of the earth and say: \u2018Our fathers inherited utter delusions, things that are futile and worthless\u2019\u201d (Jeremiah 16:19).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">image:\u00a0Jews cross Red Sea pursued by Pharaoh.
