Why couldn\u2019t God tell Jeremiah to bury socks or shoes or pants? The answer begins with the specific use of <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">azor<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which only appears four other times in Tanach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>azor<\/em> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as something good:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1) The belt identifies Elijah in the book of\u00a0 Kings II 1:8. Achaziah&#8217;s search party recognizes Elijah because of the <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">azor <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he is wearing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2) In Isaiah 11, it describes the messiah&#8217;s two <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">azorim<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, one being <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tzedek<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, &#8220;justice,&#8221; and one being <em>emunah<\/em>, &#8220;faith.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bad <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">azor<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3) In Isaiah 5:27, it says that a warrior coming to fight Israel will not loosen his <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">azor<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Meaning, the warrior will keep fighting Israel to punish them and he won\u2019t rest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4) In Ezekiel 23:15, a woman falls in love with the sons of Babylonia because she sees their turbans and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>azorim<\/em> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and that&#8217;s how she identified them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So what is the connection?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God is the <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">azor<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. By having Jeremiah bury and abandon the <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">azor<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, he is explaining to the Israelites what happens if they do not take care of this connection to God.
