  1. 6 out of 10<\/em>. In verse 9 it is possible to find 6 out of the Ten Commandments – both ritual ones, between people and God, and the ethical ones, between people. Seems that idolatry and corruption go hand in hand.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. To pray or not to pray<\/em>. When God says to Jeremiah: \u201cAs for you, do not pray for this people, do not raise a cry of prayer on their behalf, do not plead with Me\u201d (verse 16) – what does He mean? Is this an invitation to the prophet to respond, as it was 325 chapters ago, in the dialogue between God and Moses after the sin of the golden calf: \u201c\u2018Now, let Me be, that My anger may blaze forth against them and that I may destroy them, and make of you a great nation.\u2019 But Moses implored the LORD his God…\u201d? Or does He really mean it, that there is no room at all for prayer?<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Like Shiloh<\/em>. The tabernacle at Shiloh, which was destroyed hundreds of years (and 171 chapters ago – 1 Sam. 4), is etched in the historical memory as the Temple that was destroyed. Even the epithet \u201cden of thieves\u201d (verse 11), is appropriate for what went on their on the eve of its destruction.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Prophets 24\/7<\/em>. That\u2019s the impression from verses 25-26: \u201cfrom the day your fathers left the land of Egypt until today. And though I kept sending all My servants, the prophets, to them daily and persistently, they would not listen to Me or give ear…\u201d No break – but also no success…<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. How did it all end<\/em>? In this chapter we heard the things that Jeremiah was commanded to say in the gates of the Temple. The things were said, and the audience did not remain indifferent.
