For I am about to call forth all the clans of the kingdoms of the north,\u201d said the LORD, \u201cand they shall come and each set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem and against its walls all round and against all the towns of Judah.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ominous nature of this prediction is enhanced by the vagueness of the formulation. The enemy in the later sixth century B.C.E. would have to be Babylonia, which is definitely more to the east than to the north, though perhaps a northern invasion route is envisaged.
