Most translations render it as \u201cespoused,\u201d but that is too formal and too decorous. This passive form of the verb <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ba\u2019al<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> does indicate a woman who has a husband (the noun <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ba\u2019al<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), but it has a sexual connotation: Zion, the woman who has been forsaken will not enjoy consummation again.
