I am the LORD and there is no other.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The use of <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tohu<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> amounts to a pun. Adverbially, it can mean \u201cfor nothing,\u201d \u201cfutilely,\u201d as it clearly does in the next verse.
