  1. Between king and king<\/em>. There\u2019s a king in verse 1 – and he \u201cshall reign in righteousness\u201d together with ministers who \u201cshall govern with justice.\u201d 21 chapters ago, in Isaiah 11, we also met a king who reigned in righteousness. It\u2019s interesting to compare and contrast the abilities and the status of the two visions of kingship.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Listen and hear.<\/em> For Isaiah, seeing hearing and understanding are the keys to change. The worst thing that can happen to people is that they \u201cHear, indeed, but do not understand; See, indeed, but do not grasp\u201d (6:9). And so the best message is\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThen the eyes of those who have sight shall not be sealed, And the ears of those who have hearing shall listen; And the minds of the thoughtless shall attend and note\u2026\u201d (verses 3-4).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. An end to hypocrisy<\/em>. In a world of truth there is no place for false flattery. And if you want to understand the difference between the <\/span>naval<\/span><\/i> (villain) and the <\/span>nadiv <\/span><\/i>(noble one) – see the full description in verses 6-8.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Homage to Lemech<\/em>. The address to the \u201ccarefree women\u201d in verse 9, is reminiscent of the song of Lemech to his wifes, 362 chapters ago in Ge. 4:23 – \u201cAnd Lamech said to his wives, \u201cAdah and Zillah, hear my voice; O wives of Lamech, give ear to my speech.\u201d What\u2019s the connection between the two \u201csongs,\u201d besides them being addressed to women? There\u2019s a lot of fodder here for creative interpretation.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Tranquility, pro and con<\/em>. Security, complacency, rest and peace are key words in the prophecy. But tranquility in and of itself is not a value. When the situation is tough, serenity and security become complacency, apathy and blindness.\u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":86314,"id":86314,"title":"Points to
