Although our chapter is one of the shortest chapters in the Bible (six verses only), it suggests a unique eternal pattern of relationship between God and his chosen people.<\/span><\/p>\n

God gives Israel comfort and joy and strength and might and deliverance and glory and triumph. In return Israel thanks God for his tremendous help.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the glorious triumph that Isaiah mentions again and again in our chapter?<\/span><\/p>\n

Was it the ancient triumph over the Egyptian army in the days of Moses?<\/span><\/p>\n

Is it Judah’s triumph over the armies of Aram and Israel in the days of King Ahaz?<\/span><\/p>\n

Is it Judah’s triumph over the Assyrian army in the days of King Hezekiah?<\/span><\/p>\n

Will it be the promised return from the diaspora of the deported tribes of Israel?<\/span><\/p>\n

Will it be the promised creation of a peaceful vegetarian world in the end of days?<\/span><\/p>\n

Or maybe all the answers above are correct. Maybe the prophecy tells us that the chain of God’s triumphs and his people’s thanks never ends.<\/span><\/p>\n
