Ben Schachter is a quiet guy with a calm demeanor that belies the depth and expansiveness of his knowledge and practices- a contemporary moral voice speaking softly but firmly across many landscapes and touching myriad people. He is a committed educator, contemporary artist, writer, father of four, and a practicing Jew. The synthesis of these roles created a man who is compassionate, ethical, and moral with a highly developed sense of humor and a strong sense of purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n

Using the concrete to examine the abstract, the ancient to support contemporary thought and understanding, he teaches and creates works that speak to today\u2019s society. In his <\/span>Eruv <\/span><\/i>series, he explores boundaries \u2013 stretching the\u00a0 halachkic definition that defines the inside and outside of space and time. He distills the definition of the Sabbath presenting a concept that can infuse ones studio practice and, therefore, one\u2019s entire life.<\/span><\/p>\n
