  1. When and who<\/em>? The prophecies in the chapter allude to a time of wealth and well-being. In the allegory in the first part of the chapter, the Vineyard is well irrigated, and there is a watchtower and a winery. The sinners in the second half of the chapter, enjoy the bounty of large houses, fruitful fields, time and money to enjoy parties. The reality that is described fits the time of King Uzziah. Wealth and success that a certain segment of the population enjoys greatly (but only a certain segment!). <\/span>
    \n<\/span>And who is the enemy who comes and punishes the sinners? This isn\u2019t stated explicitly, but during Isaiah\u2019s time, the army that was considered a war machine such as this was Assyria. Assyria will become the dominant empire, thanks to its military prowess, that will conquer all the lands of the region. Coming up…<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Judge for yourselves<\/em>. That\u2019s what the allegory suggests in the first part. \u201cNow, then, Dwellers of Jerusalem And men of Judah, You be the judges Between Me and My vineyard\u201d (verse 3). And if as listeners, you become active, and judge the Vineyard, then perhaps you\u2019ll internalize the message, not regarding the Vineyard in the parable, but regarding yourselves, the moral of the story.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Am I asking too much<\/em>? Isaiah spells out exactly what God expects of God\u2019s people: \u201cHe hoped for justice.. for equity.\u201d This is not a secondary issue. This was supposed to be the fruits of God\u2019s great investment in \u201cthe vineyard of the LORD of Hosts\u201d; it is the ultimate destiny of \u201cthe seedlings he lovingly tended\u201d (verse
