  2. Poetic bookends<\/em>. The Books of Samuel opens with the Song of Hannah (I Samuel, chapter 2) and draw to a close with the Song of David. Both poems, whose content is appropriate for different sorts of people in various life situations, conclude with a connection to the kingship and its future. In Hannah\u2019s Song: \u201cHe will give power to His king, And triumph to His anointed one\u201d (I Sam 2, verse 10), and in our chapter in the concluding verse: \u201cTower of victory to His king, Who deals graciously with His anointed, With David and his offspring evermore.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. An army of salvation<\/em>. Nine times in this chapter the root \u05d9-\u05e9-\u05e2, y-sh-\u2019ayin<\/i>, \u201csave, salvation\u201d is used, in different
