  1. It doesn\u2019t come from nowhere<\/em>. The tensions between Judah and Israel that were revealed at the end of the previous chapter regarding the question of who was closer and more supportive of the kingship come to a head in this chapter.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Living widowhood<\/em>. A horrific description of the fate of David\u2019s concubines who were raped as part of Absalom\u2019s rebellion (verse 3).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. More blood on Joab\u2019s sword<\/em>. Asahel, Abner, Uriah, Absalom, and now Amasa. These are men whose death Joab is directly responsible for (not including, of course, many enemy soldiers). What led to Joab\u2019s decision this time? Was he suspicious of Amasa betraying David when he didn\u2019t return to Jerusalem as ordered? Or was it a more personal issue, vying with him over the position of David\u2019s commander in chief?<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. One dead body in the middle of the road<\/em>. Amasa\u2019s corpse in the road attracts the attention of the fighters, and delays their joining forces with Joab. What does the young man who is in charge of it do? Check it out in verses 13-14.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Women\u2019s wisdom<\/em>. As in chapter 14, in verses 16-22, a wise woman who knows how to speak to the heart and to the head, succeeds in changing the course of the conflict. For good.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Joab returns triumphant<\/em>. The changes in the army command that David attempted to make – were not successful: \u201cJoab returned to the king in Jerusalem. Joab was commander of the whole army [of] Israel\u201d (verse 22-3).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":86314,"id":86314,"title":"Points to
