Jephthah\u2019s name, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yiftah<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, means \u201che opens.\u201d The verb used here, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">patsah<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is slightly different than the verb <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">patah<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on which the name is based, but it is a close phonetic and semantic cousin.
