  1. First in war and in peace.<\/span><\/i> The first judge is from the tribe of Judah: Othniel ben Kenaz, Caleb\u2019s younger brother, whose bravery we heard about already in chapter 1. <\/span><\/li>\n
  2. A left-handed ben-Yemini <\/span><\/i>(\u201crighty\u201d also of the tribe of Benyemin). Ehud ben Gera was a ben-Yemini who was <\/span>itter yad yemino<\/span><\/i> (v. 15), that is who was ambidextrous (or left-handed). Another important physical detail in the chapter is that Eglon was described as being very <\/span>bari<\/span><\/i>, that is, stout. His girth allowed Ehud to bury his sword in his belly and escape before detection (v. 22).<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. The fords of the Jordan<\/span><\/i>. The place where the waters of the Jordan were shallow and easy to cross was the area where it was easy to capture those who tried to get to the other side, as here in verse 28, and in another 9 chapters (Judges 12) at the battle of Mitzar.<\/span><\/li>\n
