  1. This time it\u2019s everyone!<\/span><\/i> In chapter 1, we read about the particular tribes who were not successful in gaining their portions, alongside those who seemed to make out better. Here In chapter 2, everyone is at fault.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Bochim (\u201cWeeping\u201d)<\/span><\/i>. There is no more apt place name (see vv 1, 5). The Septuagint, by the way (ancient Greek translation), identifies this place with Beit El, which is connected to other great events of weeping (in another 18 chapters, Judges 20-21).<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Told you so!<\/span><\/i> If Joshua had been alive then – that\u2019s probably what he would\u2019ve said. Exactly what he warned the people three chapters ago (Joshua 23) comes to pass in verses 1-5.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Endings and beginnings<\/span><\/i>. Verses 6-10, the opening verses of the period of the Judges, are very similar to the closing verses of Joshua (24:28-33). The very similarity highlights the different atmosphere: the idyllic time of Joshua contrasts starkly with the impending catastrophe of the Judges. <\/span><\/li>\n
  5. They didn\u2019t know\u2026 <\/span><\/i>\u201cAnother generation arose…which had not experienced the LORD…\u201d (<\/span>asher lo yad\u2019u \u00a0–<\/span><\/i>v. 10) is reminiscent of a different period: \u201cA new king arose over Egypt who did not know Joseph\u201d (<\/span>asher lo yada\u2019 – <\/span><\/i>Ex. 1:8).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":86314,"id":86314,"title":"Points to
