  1. The message of the first list<\/span><\/em>. Judah, the tribe of leadership, is first. Then the sons of Joseph (\u201cthe Josephites\u201d), who also have a leading role – especially Ephraim.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The message of the second list<\/span><\/em>. Manasseh was Joseph\u2019s firstborn, Ephraim was the younger. The crossing of the hands that occurred in Jacob\u2019s blessing of the children 155 chapters ago (Genesis 48) finally comes to fruition, and Ephraim inherits before Manasseh (though Manasseh as the firstborn, receives two portions).<\/span><\/li>\n

But this doesn\u2019t last forever. In the days of King Solomon, in another 93 chapters (I Kings chapter 9), Gezer changes hands and then becomes a wedding present.
