Gibeon has been identified with the modern site of Tell el-Jib since the Middle Ages. This identification was confirmed by the discovery of more than fifty jar handles with the name Gibeon (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gb\u02c1n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) inscribed in Hebrew letters. The letters <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bet, ayin<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nun<\/span><\/i><span
