End of <\/span>Elul<\/span><\/i>.<\/span>
\n<\/span>We had a hard summer this year,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Hotter and harsher than usual. <\/span><\/p>\n

And the journey across the mountains was difficult.<\/span>
\n<\/span>For I’ve come from a distant country;<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is my bread \u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

Fresh, with a pleasant aroma, when I left<\/span>
\n<\/span>But now stale and crumbling.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is my wine-gourd, which I had filled with cool wine,<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Now empty, worn and rent.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Look at my garments and sandals \u2014<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Tattered and torn from the journey. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is the oath I swore was true,<\/span>
\n<\/span>An oath<\/span>
\n<\/span>Full of lies and deceit. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the end of <\/span>Elul<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>Has pounced upon us<\/span>
\n<\/span>And I want to \u2014 I need to \u2014<\/span>
\n<\/span>Make a covenant<\/span>
\n<\/span>With You, O Lord,<\/span>
\n<\/span>To be allowed into the camp.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Even as a hewer of wood.<\/span>
\n<\/span> Even as a drawer of water. <\/span><\/p>\n

Everyone knows<\/span>
\n<\/span>That after <\/span>Elul<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>A person can fall from a cliff,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Like the scapegoat to Azazel. <\/span><\/p>\n

O Master of forgiveness, <\/span>Adon HaSelichot<\/span><\/i>,<\/span>
\n<\/span>If You permit me<\/span>
\n<\/span>To be one of the congregation,<\/span>
