The flame is dying<\/span>
\n<\/span>On us,<\/span>
\n<\/span>A small, sickly flame<\/span>
\n<\/span>As feeble as a husband\u2019s love <\/span><\/p>\n

Which is a door locked tight,<\/span>
\n<\/span>A sealed letter unopened. <\/span><\/p>\n

This small, sickly flame<\/span>
\n<\/span>Is burning itself out;<\/span>
\n<\/span>It flickers and flutters,<\/span>
\n<\/span>As fleeting and fickle as a husband\u2019s love <\/span><\/p>\n

Which is a pair of wrinkled pants<\/span>
\n<\/span>Dropped and discarded on the floor,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Not placed in a bin,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Not folded in a drawer;<\/span>
\n<\/span>As crumpled as a husband\u2019s love <\/span><\/p>\n

Which is a telephone left off the hook,<\/span>
\n<\/span>No dial tone, no response, no voice,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Not even a recorded message;<\/span>
\n<\/span>As absent as a husband\u2019s love. <\/span><\/p>\n

If only someone would share the secret:<\/span>
\n<\/span>How to rub two stones together \u2014<\/span>
\n<\/span>Two pieces of flint,<\/span>
\n<\/span>That is to say, two hearts \u2014 <\/span>
\n<\/span>To ignite a spark<\/span>
\n<\/span>That could rekindle<\/span>
\n<\/span>A gentle fire<\/span>
\n<\/span>Of warmth<\/span>
\n<\/span>And a little light.<\/span><\/p>\n
