Every morning the prophet Ezekiel put on<\/span>
\n<\/span>Tefillin<\/span><\/i> of a chariot,<\/span>
\n<\/span>And when he wound the straps around his arm,<\/span>
\n<\/span>He would see the tracks of wheels<\/span>
\n<\/span>And a storm wind; and a cloud; and a fire ablaze. <\/span><\/p>\n

Every morning King David put on<\/span>
\n<\/span>Tefillin<\/span><\/i> of a harp,<\/span>
\n<\/span>And when he wound the straps around his arm,<\/span>
\n<\/span>He would see musical notes<\/span>
\n<\/span>Quavering on a seven-lined stave. <\/span><\/p>\n

Every morning Joseph put on<\/span>
\n<\/span>Tefillin<\/span><\/i> of dreams,<\/span>
\n<\/span>And when he wound the straps around his arm,<\/span>
\n<\/span>He would see stars binding sheaves<\/span>
\n<\/span>As the sun and the moon whispered: ‘Amen.’ <\/span><\/p>\n

Every morning Jacob put on<\/span>
\n<\/span>Tefillin<\/span><\/i> of a ladder,<\/span>
\n<\/span>And when he wound the straps around his arm,<\/span>
\n<\/span>He would see angels ascending<\/span>
\n<\/span>Rung by rung. <\/span><\/p>\n

But I \u2014 every morning I put on<\/span>
\n<\/span>Tefillin<\/span><\/i> of sand,<\/span>
\n<\/span>And when I wind the straps around my arm,<\/span>
\n<\/span>They break apart, disintegrate and disperse<\/span>
\n<\/span>Like grains in the desert of routine. <\/span><\/p>\n

When will I put on<\/span>
\n<\/span>Not the <\/span>tefillin<\/span><\/i> of Rashi<\/span>
\n<\/span>Nor the <\/span>tefillin<\/span><\/i> of Rabeinu Tam,<\/span>
\n<\/span>But rather<\/span>
\n<\/span>The <\/span>tefillin<\/span><\/i> of Rabbi Nachman,<\/span>
