<\/span><\/p>\n

The science student sits in the university library,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Studying research papers of paleontologists and paleobotanists<\/span>
\n<\/span>Trying to uncover<\/span>
\n<\/span>The origin of life. <\/span><\/p>\n

The library is quiet,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Almost empty,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Air-conditioned,<\/span>
\n<\/span>As the student summarizes articles in journals<\/span>
\n<\/span>On primitive marine bacteria from the Lower Pre-Cambrian period.<\/span><\/p>\n

At lunchtime, the student sits in a small park<\/span>
\n<\/span>And eats a chicken sandwich.<\/span>
\n<\/span>Removing a bone from the sandwich,<\/span>
\n<\/span>He stoops to bury it.<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u201cA future fossil,\u201d he whispers to himself, smiling. <\/span><\/p>\n

The student notices a torn piece of paper under his bench<\/span>
\n<\/span>And picks it up:<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u201cIn the wilderness of Sinai,<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>How many hundreds of worn out wanderers<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>Passed by a bush that burned but was not consumed,<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>Never bothering to take a closer look?<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>Until one shepherd, a Jewish refugee from Egypt,<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>Observed.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The student removes his thick eyeglasses<\/span>
\n<\/span>And observes the leaves of the tree next to the bench.<\/span>
\n<\/span>The leaves,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Blobs of green light from an impressionist painting,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Shine and shadow, shine and shadow, shine and shadow,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Relaying him a Message<\/span>
\n<\/span>In visual morse code<\/span>
\n<\/span>Which he alone can decipher,<\/span>
\n<\/span>He alone can uncover. <\/span><\/p>\n

The student stands and stares at the leaves,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Receiving their Message<\/span>
\n<\/span>On the origin of life<\/span>
\n<\/span>As they spell out before him<\/span>
\n<\/span>Thousands of variations and permutations<\/span>
\n<\/span>On the letters of the unpronounceable Name of God. <\/span><\/p>\n

He touches leaf after leaf;<\/span>
\n<\/span>Stroking them delicately<\/span>
\n<\/span>Like letters in a thick braille prayer-book,<\/span>
\n<\/span>He reads their blessings<\/span><\/p>\n

And listens intently, hearing the leaves<\/span>
\n<\/span>Articulate in a still small voice<\/span>
\n<\/span>The unutterable Name of God.<\/span><\/p>\n

He bends down<\/span>
\n<\/span>And removes his shoes;<\/span>
\n<\/span>For on sacred ground,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Under a canopy of green leaves that shadow and shine,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Overwhelmed by the polyphonics of divine voices<\/span>
\n<\/span>And the mosaics of divine lights,<\/span>
\n<\/span>A man<\/span>
\n<\/span>Trembles<\/span>
\n<\/span>In the science of
