Its subject is the\u00a0<em>Mishkan<\/em>, the Tabernacle or Sanctuary the Israelites were commanded to make as a centre of worship and as a visible sign of the presence of God in their midst. The length and detail of the description of the building of the Tabernacle sends the message of its central significance to the Israelites.
