\u201c\u2026 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they should bring you a heifer totally red without a blemish, and on which no yoke has been laid. \u201d (Numbers 19:2)<\/span><\/p>\n

Dazzling descends the flame of inspiration,<\/span>
\n<\/span>The prayed for, hoped for, crimson fire of grace,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Enkindling lucent words that fall in place,<\/span>
\n<\/span>And blaze as bright sparks of illumination.<\/span>
\n<\/span>As if this burst of scarlet revelation<\/span>
\n<\/span>Begot a heifer totally red, whose face<\/span>
\n<\/span>And body\u2019s hide are vermilion silk and lace,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Serving now our rites of purification. <\/span><\/p>\n

But then expand dark fogs of thick despair,<\/span>
\n<\/span>That swallow grace, devour all wisps of light,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Creating stagnant bogs in which words whine;<\/span>
\n<\/span>And on our heifer\u2019s face appears black hair,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Exiling lucid words into the night,<\/span>
\n<\/span>In swamps where swim and wallow swarthy
