<\/span><\/p>\n

A grape-vine to strike roots<\/span>
\n<\/span>Takes time;<\/span>
\n<\/span>To bring forth ripe grapes,<\/span>
\n<\/span>More than a year.<\/span>
\n<\/span>But look \u2014 <\/span>
\n<\/span>One year now we are together.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> Your laughter plants strong roots in my eyes,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> My eyes furrow deep in your hands.<\/span><\/p>\n

We, together, are two vines<\/span>
\n<\/span>Intertwined,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Merged into one living plant, fertile, luxuriant,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Bearing in one season both flower and fruit:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> Our son,
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Our first-born. <\/span><\/p>\n

This first year: a year of bounty<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> As you sow my eyes,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> I harvest your laugh.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tilling our lives\u2019 land, we reap<\/span>
\n<\/span>A year of blossoms and promise.<\/span>
\n<\/span>God has granted us this grace:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> A vineyard overflowing<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> With grapes of laughter<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> And wine of eyes<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> And the rarest fruit:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> Our son
