A researcher who will find the law code in a dig 1500 years from now, will draw some fairly amusing conclusions as to the animal populations in these lovely beachfront towns of the 2000s. And as far as we&#8217;re concerned, they&#8217;d be right, since law books are a first-rate source to find out about people and their doings in a given society.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll answer the bear question directly, but first let&#8217;s learn something about the desert generation and what occupied them, from the laws which Moses gave them in the desert. So who and what are in the municipal by-laws of the book of Exodus? 19 men, 8 women (one pregnant), 8 male and female, 7 slaves and one slave-girl, 6 resident aliens,\u00a0 and one orphan, widow and virgin each, and also \u2013 a witch who must be burnt, and right away. The animal kingdom in Exodus supplies no less than 21 oxen, 5 donkeys, and two sheep.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, the probability of an accident between a man and an ox was then several times higher than between an orphan and a donkey. You&#8217;ll admit that there is some comfort in that.<\/p>\n<p>And the bears? It seems that in the 1950s, dubious entertainers would torture little bears and make them dance on the beach for a few coins.
