Two golden cherubim on the sacred Ark-cover:
\n<\/span>One, with the face of a boy, the other \u2014 the face of a girl,
\n<\/span>Each turned to the other,
\n<\/span>Their lips a hairbreadth apart,<\/span><\/p>\n

Touching, not touching,
\n<\/span>Meeting, not meeting;<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, the intimacy of distance,
\n<\/span>The closeness of the unapproachable.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the gap
\n<\/span>Between the two cherubim
\n<\/span>Echoes the Voice of God<\/span><\/p>\n

Touching, not touching,<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0
\n<\/span>Meeting, not meeting,
\n<\/span>Merging, not merging;<\/span><\/p>\n

Like a wind hovering above the waters,
\n<\/span>Like the feathers of a wing,
\n<\/span>Like the softness of a breath.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here, the convergence
\n<\/span>Between prophet and the Master of all worlds;<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, the intimacy of distance,
\n<\/span>The closeness of the unapproachable.<\/span><\/p>\n

And in the hour of grace,
\n<\/span>The soul trembles,<\/span><\/p>\n

Touching, not touching,
\n<\/span>Meeting, not meeting,
\n<\/span>Merging, not merging,
\n<\/span>Contacting, not contacting<\/span><\/p>\n

The Source of all souls
\n<\/span>In the intimacy of distance,
