Dawn hovers above the dunes.
\nDeep pink halos the pyramid peaks
\nand lifts me on a swallow\u2019s wings.
\nHaven\u2019t slept since Abba took a year-old lamb
\nand tied it in our yard.<\/p>\n

Before dark, Abba slaughters the lamb,
\nsmears its blood on our doorposts
\nand roasts it in our yard.
\nThe smell still lingers in the air.
\nYes! We roast their god!<\/p>\n

The full moon shines
\nas we eat fast \u2013
\npacks on our backs, shoes on our feet,
\nGrandmother\u2019s fingers clutching her walking stick.
\nYes! Already free!<\/p>\n

The new dawn opens her eyes and
