Each work imagines Moses\u2019 appearance, character, and response to revelation differently.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The three artists&#8217; depictions of the bush itself vary greatly:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-40828\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-sarajevo-201x300.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-sarajevo-201x300.gif 201w, https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-sarajevo-282x420.gif 282w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 201px) 100vw, 201px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Sarajevo Haggadah the bush looks almost like a tree.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-40829\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-feti-198x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-feti-198x300.jpg 198w, https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-feti-277x420.jpg 277w, https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-feti.jpg 395w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 198px) 100vw, 198px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feti&#8217;s bush looks like a mere stick with only a few leaves. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-40830\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-pluchart-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-pluchart-300x240.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-pluchart-526x420.jpg 526w, https:\/\/wp.929.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ex3-pluchart.jpg 751w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both images stand in contrast to Pluchart&#8217;s lush greenery, with pinkish rose-like fire emanating from it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which is truer to the Biblical text? In truth, the identity of the bush has been debated by many and is ambiguous, allowing for multiple possibilities. Often choices made in depicting the burning bush illuminate the symbolism an interpreter is imparting to the vision. Is the bush lowly to represent the lowly status of the Children of Israel or God&#8217;s humility in appearing to Moshe?
